I grew up at the intersection of Asia, Europe and Africa. A place where varied layers of cultures and traditions, languages and signs, music and soundscapes - have all shaped my outlook, offering a visual abundance of colors and designs.
In my art I strive for a conversation, a dialogue between ways of seeing, a constant reflection of memories and current state of observing and interacting.
With a background in Architecture, I love to incorporate drawings as signifiers for my mostly abstract painting. Whether it's drawings or large-scale paintings, its lines, rather than color that are my primary instigators; they connect, integrate and carry the composition through the journey, as I look for an emerging order, for a solid ground.
I use mostly Acrylic on large paintings on canvas, and pencils, ink and gouache on small paper pieces. In both cases I love the sense of close interaction, where my hand is intimately engaged and tactile with the medium.
I live and create in Oakland, California. I have shown both locally and abroad, in Spain and Germany.

Press: Oakland Art Murmur, by Malcolm Ryder, 2023:
"Dalit Fresco's works are highly animated in the way her sensitive choice of each part's qualities make us feel them coming together into a whole. They exemplify a way of cultivating beauty from the freedom of making something by hand. Each of her touches does something explicit, not suggestive; and I ponder how the results were both bold and quiet at the same time."
